Prehistory, is something Mallorca and the Balearic Islands is highly characterized and influenced by. Especially the Bronze ages and the unique Talayotic period, has had big impact on life on Mallorca. Now, time has come for you and your family to learn about life in prehistoric Mallorca, in a fun and interactive way.

The newly formed city council of Pollença, recently decided that a day celebrating the ancient prehistoric culture of Mallorca, was a good idea to give families a way to learn about the cultural heritage and history of Mallorca while enjoying a fun time together.
The prehistoric day, is a brand new initiative that aims to educate more tourists in the rich prehistoric heritage of Mallorca and Classical Greece.
Throughout the day, you can browse booths, workshops, tastings, theatre performances and craft stalls in Cala Sant Vicenc.
At 17:00 h, a special artisan workshop for children is held at Plaça de Sant Vicenç where the little ones will learn about ceramics of prehistoric times, their use and how to make tools.
Also, this is a great way to get to see the wonderful area of Cala Sant Vicenç nestled in between the dramatic cove formations of the Tramuntana mountains.
Something for the nerds too
Although the aim of the prehistoric day is to give tourists and families an easy entrance to the Mallorcan history, there has also been arranged various lectures and showings for you who want to dig a bit deeper.
At 12:30 in Cala Sant Vicenc, you can enjoy a special event with guided tours in the prehistoric habitation caves and thorough explanation of burial rituals.
At 20:00 h, a dramatical theatrical performance of Homer’s Odyssey will be performed in Plaça de Sant Vicenç.
All in all, the prehistoric day is a great initiative and should be a different experience that you will not soon forget!
