Enjoy the great beach of Cala Santanyí

The main beach of Cala Santanyí is the whole reason that this wonderful holiday destination was founded in the first place. The Cala Santanyí beach has a length of 70 meter and a dept of about 100 meter. It might not be big, but you have the benefit of being in a secluded holiday resort meaning that often times the only beach-goers are the other hotel and apartment guests in this specific area. The beach is awarded with a Blue Flag for its cleanness and it shows in the shallow turquoise water in the protected cove. In both Cala Santanyí and Cala Figuera you will find diving centers that arrange undersea excursions. Es Pontas is the name of the curious rocky formation erecting from the water level between Cala Santanyí and Cala Llombards. It is a spectacular view and you can’t help but wonder how nature has created a such sculpture by itself.

Back during the 16th and 17th century, Mallorca is tormented by corsairs raiding the villages and taking hostages. To encounter these attacks, a number of watchtowers were erected on the cliffs around the coasts to warn the population whenever a threat was spotted. Many of these watchtowers are still standing as landmarks testifying to difficult times for the islanders. Every one of them is interesting to visit, some of them can be climbed and you can enjoy the views from the platform. Some of the nearby watchtowers are those of Torre Nova de sa Roca Fesa and Torre d’en Beu.

The neighboring fishing village of Cala Figuera is by far one of the most picturesque and charming little coves on the island, it boasts Mallorcan authenticity and heritage.
