Montuïri is a small agricultural valligae situated on a little mountain (thereof the name) in the middle of Mallorca.

Montuïri is far from regular tourist destinations, and if you seek to interact with the local communities Montuïri is a great place.

The people in Montuïri are friendly and curious on you as a visitor, namely because they do not normally feel the hectic atmosphere of millions of foreign tourists occupying the cafes in the small narrow streets.

Montuïri offers a small range of local restaurants and bars, serving traditional Spanish and Mallorcan dishes. The fresh local produce from the area makes eating in Montuïri a joyful and experience, even though not all dishes are as “exhilarating” by looking at the menu cards.

Montuïri offers a range of private holiday rentals for you to choose from, but there are no hotels. perhaps a small BnB, but that’s about it.

Montuïri is a great choice of holiday destination, mainly because of its central location in the middle of the island.

Relax in the fresh clean countryside air, listen to the birds fly by, while you inhale the serenity of this beautiful area.

Montuïri is an excellent area for sports such as road cycling and walking. There are some stunning viewpoints to find in the hilly area around Montuïri.

The center of Montuïri village offers a selection of local points of interest, namely the church, the old inn and the beautiful molinas (mills) that Montuïris agriculture is founded on.

The main attraction though, is the prehistoric village and settlment of Son Fornés, located a few kilometres outside Montuïri itself. These excavations has been pronounced some of the most important in regards to Balearic heritage and history. You can enter the prehistoric village for free and there are info-tables on the site explaining the different sections.

The weekly market in Montuïri, is held Mondays at 8 a.m at Plaça Major.

The market is quite small and quiet, but offers a great local atmosphere where you can sample some local produce, find unique ceramics or handcrafts and take in the impressions that speaks to all senses.

Montuïri is located in the middle of Majorca, close to other villages such as Algaida, Vilafranca and Porreres
