Pollensa old town, offers true rustic atmosphere that runs on every singe corner.

Pollensa is situated about 3 miles inside the island, from the more well-known holiday destination, Port de Pollensa, loved by many summer holidaymakers.

Pollensa old town, is an excellent choice of holiday base, if you appreciate good food, local culture and direct access to the mountains.

Restaurants and food culture in Pollença

Pollensa has a lot of restaurants, bars and small cafeterias, located around in the narrow streets. All of these with an inspiring menu card, especially those located around the center of the town. Sitting in one of the restaurants on a warm spring day, eating tapas and doing some people watching on the main square, is like therapy to me.

There’s a good collection of restaurants on the Plaça Major, where the church is. This is naturally where most tourists go for meals or snacks, but if you are here for more than a short break, do try to browse the streets of Pollensa, I promise you that you will find something attractive!

Accommodation & hotel offers in Pollença

Pollensa offers more than 100 accommodation options for you to choose from. Maybe renting a small town house in the hilly streets with views over the mountains, maybe a boutique luxury hotel, or a maybe a modern pool resort? Everything is possible here in Pollença!

Pollença also offers the opportunity to stay in a so called ecotourism, a producing estate.

Note, that Pollença old town is generally not a place for smaller children, and the hotels up here are not geared for such either. If you are traveling with children or infants, you want to look for Port de Pollença at the coast.

Basically, there’s nothing you can’t do when in Pollença! The area is situated, as a gate between the clear coastline and the dramatic mountain range, which leaves you with a natural playground of hilly terrain, water and good roads.

Pollença is home to a golf course, some tennis and squash courses, fitness centers, and a bunch of other facilities available.

Moreover, Pollença is known for attracting an active audience, hence the many arrangers of tours, diving centers, cycle clubs etc.

Things to see around Pollença

Pollensa itself, is home to at least a handful of sights that you should have a look at, before start browsing tourist brochures and this website.

The Calvary steps, located in the northwestern end of the town, is a must. If your legs allow it, do see if you can climb the 413 steps up this hill, till you reach the chapel and the platform giving you panoramic views all over the coastline and even to Menorca.

If local culture is interesting to you, Pollensa offers a few museums, displaying works and life of famous and influential artists from Pollensa.

For hikers, Pollensa can also offer the old mountain fortress Castell del Rei (The King’s Castle), which is an amazing ruin to explore.

In the nearby town of Alcudia, you will find the remains of the very first capital of Majorca, Pollentia. In Alcudia, notice the massive town walls and the gates, standing back from the 14. century when the kind wanted to protect this town from pirates.
