The Bank of Sóller is a symbol of wealth and prosperity and unique architecture

Back in the 1800’s, a great amount of Mallorcans returned from America and France, after they had immigrated to seek fortunes.

They returned to Sóller with great fortunes and great cultural knowledge, making them a new social elite.

A symbol of the new and good times, was manifested in this building construction that was done by Joan Rubió i Bellver, the same person who did the parish church of Sant Bartomeu. Bellver also did the unique open-air church Esglesia Nova in Son Servera.

In the years 1910-1912, the building facade was renovated in order to give it the same exterior as the church.

Joan Rubió i Bellver, a business partner of Antoni Gaudí, commemorated Gaudí with the double balcony, the arched entrance and the very beautiful and detailed ironwork.
