Birthplace of the son of Sant Joan

In this narrow street, we find the home of the most famous son of Sant Joan, Lluís Jaume Vallespir, who died a martyr in Califonia in 1775.

This very small house, made of irregular stones, witnesses a humble life.

To the left of the main entrance, wyou can see a stone with the following inscription:

Roughly translated into:

“According to the legend, this is the birthplace and home of Father Lluís Jaume, zealous defender of Christ, whom in the task of the apostle to convert gentiles, received a brutal martyrdom from the hands of the Indians in the upper California (1740-1775)”.
