The old public water supply of Santanyí

This is the old public water well of Santanyí, which you will find in a T-junction east of the parish church of Saint Andrew. The watering place was built in 1820, when the well at Plaça Major was closed. Back during Medieval times, it served as a place for the animals to drink water and relax. s’Aberaudor, is also known as “Sa Sinia” (water wheel), as the wheel (currently not attached) was used to extract water from the well.

Santanyí belongs to the Migjorn region, and is located in the south-eastern corner of Mallorca. The heart of Santanyí is the main square of the old town, an ambient place surrounded by bars and restaurants which gives life to the “yellow town”. Wednesday and Saturday are market days in Santanyí, where you can sample some of the local delicacies and products while bargaining good prices of various stuff.
