One of the great tourist attractions close to Cala Bona, is the Cuevas de Ártà, or simply, the Caves of Ártà. Come discover the fascinating world of stalagmites and stalactites illuminated by colorful light creating a cabinet of mysterious silhouettes. This attraction is for both young and adults to enjoy, so don’t turn it down.

CASTELL DE SA PUNTA DE N’AMER

A visit to this old fortress is an excellent idea that everyone will find interesting. The fortress was built as a result of the many pirate raids against Mallorca back between the 16th and 18th centuries, but was also used as a military post during the Spanish Civil War. From the platform you can enjoy the amazing views of the coves and imagine how soldiers fought to keep enemies out. There is a small exhibition in the fortress and a cafeteria next to it.

PARISH CHURCH OF SON SERVERA

The parish church of Son Servera is a cute little village church built on top of a former watchtower that protected the village back in the days. The church is particularly popular during the holidays and on New Years Eve when some great ceremonies and events take place here.

In 1820 a terrible bubonic plague hit the area and killed many people. The village of Son Servera was put in quarantine to stop the spreading of the virus, and this memorial reminds us of the importance of showing community spirit and honor those who sacrificed.

July

Mare de Deu del Carme

On July 16th, the old fishing village of Cala Bona celebrates the patron saint of seamen, Our Lady of Mount Carmel. In the days leading up to the 16th, you can enjoy a range of fun happenings such as outdoor dinners, a huge craft market, concerts, street performances and much more. The highlight of the day itself, is the procession at sea accompanied by music which happens in the harbor area.

September

Tourism Festival

During the last week of September, Son Servera and Sant Llorenç de Cardarssar joins up and arranges one of the most extensive festivals of the year, the Tourism Festival. All over the areas of Son Servera, Sant Llorenç des Cardarssar, Cala Bona and Cala Millor, you can look forward to a full stacked program of fun, cultural and tasteful activities. On the tapas routes, you can get unique and delicious tapas and pinxos for almost no money, along with free tapas tastings in some of the hotels and bars. There will be a series of fun sports competitions and games, such as a beach volley tournament or the traditional Catalan Human Tower competition. There is also opportunity to meet some of Mallorca’s most beloved traditions such as the dancing giants and firework shows. Exhibitions and extended markets, workshops, open house events in the Pula Golf and other leisure businesses and of course a lot of concerts to set the mood. It is an entire week of just fun and good times, and a really good time to be visiting!
