Enjoy a trip to the Mondragó Park
Mondragó Park is one of Mallorca’s nature reserves and, home to two of the best beaches. The park covers a surface of nearly 800 ha of untouched Balearic wildlife, with hundreds of indigenous species to have a closer look at. It is also a great place for enjoying bird and other residents of the park. There are a number of stone trails leading about in Mondragó making sure you can explore every corner of this amazing micro-environment. The two beaches in the cove, s’Amarador and Cala Mondragó are two of the very finest and of course quite popular, so come early if you plan to enjoy a day on the beach.
Dive into the deep blue sea
Diving is one of the most popular things to do in this area, the number of undersea caves, the reefs and valleys of marine vegetation makes scuba diving here a beautiful and memorable activity. Get instructions from your teacher in one of the local diving centers and together you are ready to set off and go to the diving spot. The teacher will know all about the weather conditions and where to go to give you the best views.
Cruise the Balearic sea
Enjoy the beauty of Mallorca from the seaside by going on a coastal cruise. There are a number of different cruises to choose from, all of them will take you out on the open sea and to all the magical little golden coves around the southeastern Mallorca. You can relax on the sundeck, go for a swim in the crystal clear water and take pictures of the beautiful island.
There are a number of wonderful walking trails to follow in the area, and some interesting and beautiful places to walk to. The rural and dry countryside of southeastern Mallorca makes it easy for any condition and level to follow along and enjoy the charming landscapes.
Cycling is an obvious choice of leisure activity in these areas of Mallorca, the large network of country roads makes it a joy to get out and about. If you head north of Portopetro, the terrain will get slightly more hilly, while is will remain flat to the west. By bicycle, you can easily reach the many picturesque places and if you like challenges you can choose to head to the Llevant or Tramuntana ranges.
Can Lis was built and owned by Danish star architect Jørn Utzon, whom after his first visit to Mallorca in 1958 fell in love with the natural beauty of the island. Utzon was already a famous and sought for architect in the world after having completed the Sydney opera house, and like many other creative souls, Mallorca was the perfect place to find inspiration and relax. He built Can Lis in 1972 on the on the coast of Portopetro, where he and his family could live. Today, the house serves as an exhibition and accommodation for everyone interested in architecture. The sanctuary of consolation
Santuari de Consolación is a hilltop sanctuary overlooking the coast that date from the late Middle Ages. The sanctuary was originally a place of divine veneration, as peasants of this traditionally dry area went to the small chapel here to pray for rain. During the 16th and 17th century, the sanctuary was enhanced and expanded due to the many attacks of pirates. The walls were fortified to give the population a place to take refuge during times of crisis. Every year, there are two events here which commemorate the history of this place. The sanctuary is a perfect destination for a nice walk and you can especially look forward to the amazing views over the coast from its position.
This cute and charming little hamlet located on a hill overlooking the cast is a perfect place to visit with a bicycle or by foot. The hamlet started as a farmstead back during Moorish occupation of the island (902-1229), but was later expanded after the Catalan conquest and has developed into a small community. There is a charming little square, a beautiful church built on top of a former watchtower and a nice handful of bars and shops.
Santanyí is the main town of the municipality in which Portopetro is located. Santanyí is n interesting town to discover, it has a unique characteristic in its appearance with the house facades built in the yellow stones the area is renown for producing. Santanyí offers a nice handful of points of interest, a great selection of local bars and eateries, as well as shops and galleries. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, there is a great market in the town that transforms the town into a lively commercial space.

Santuari de Sant Salvador
Santuari de Sant Salvador is a famous sanctuary positioned in 405 meters altitude on a mountain of same name. The sanctuary was built in the mid-14th century as a refuge from the Black Death. Today, it serves as one of the most popular tourist attractions in the area and as a hotel.
