Portopetro, is located in the very southwest corner of Majorca, in the most fertile area down here.
This little authentic fishing harbour, will seclude you with more charm than any other place on the east coast. Portopetro, only offer 1-2 hotels and a few holiday rentals, which is why it is much more exclusive as well.
Needless to say, Portopetro is not a place for families traveling with children or infants.

Attractions & sights to see near Portopetro
Honestly, there s not many tourists attractions to see here in this particular area. For the hikers, there is the old abandoned convent of El Santuari de La Mare de Déu de la Consolació, located in some 200 meters height, looking over all of the southwest coast.
A trip to the nearby town of Santanyí, is a good idea for local culture, where you can enjoy the narrow streets and the many old fortiled constructions dating back from the 16. century. A wealth of history and culture is found around the center of the town.
I would recommend you to rent a vehicle if staying in Portopetro, at least for a few days. The well maintained road system, makes it convenient to get around and see this amazig island and all of its treasures.
By the way, the famous Danish architect, Jørn Utzon, actually lived here, and his house, Ca'n Lis, can be seen.

There is no beach in Portopetro, but do not fear, a short drive from Portopetro you will find the amazing nature reserve of Parc Natural de Mondragó, a paradise of flora and fauna, equipped with two silky soft white sand beaches, and the most crystal clear waters.
Diving and sailing, are two of the most common and popular activities to do in Portopetro, obviously.
If you are here during spring or autumn, cycling and hiking are quite popular as well.
Shopping options in Portopetro
There's not many shopping options in Portopetro, only a few convenient stores etc. If you like to browse windows, head to the nearby resort of Cala d'Or, offering hundreds of stores of any kind, or head to Santanyí, for more local produce and unique stores.
Santanyí is also well-known for its many art galleries.
No market is held in Portopetro. Head to Santanyí on Wednesdays or Saturdays, for a stimulation of all senses, as you browse the many great offers on local produce, leather goods, clothes and much more.
Portopetro is located in a scenic little cove in the southeastern corner of Mallorca.
Portopetro is best visited between March and October. The area is open all year round, but might get a bit too outlandish in the winter season.
