Cala Ratjada is home to some amazing beaches; Cala Gat, Son Moll and Cala Aguilla. Moreover, a 10 minute drive from the resort you’ll find Cala Mesquida. In total, you have more than 1 km of sandy beach waiting for you.

Cala Aguilla is the biggest and most beautiful of the beaches, with its 580 meters of white silky sand and crystal clear turqoise waters.

All beaches in Cala Ratjada are superviced, making it a very safe place.

Cruise the coast

Enjoy a relaxing day on the sea, with fresh breezes through your hair and the Mediterranean sun warming you. Horseback riding

Saddle up and enjoy a scenic trip along the beach line, in the hills or countryside on the back of a horse. Horseback riding is one of the most popular activities to do in the area, namely because of the stunning nature that makes it all seem so natural to be riding a horse. There are a couple of stables in Cala Ratjada from where you can rent a horse or join an excursion, try the Rancho Bonanza on the outskirts of town.

Put your golfing skills to the test

If you are fond of golfing, or if you are just keen to try, then you are in the right area. Near Cala Ratjada you will find three of the most challenging golf courses on the island, Son Servera Golf Club, Capdepera Golf and Canyamel Golf. All three of them offers an 18-hole course set in the most beautiful surroundings.

If you are looking for a place to enjoy cycling then you will be excited once you get to the area of Cala Ratjada. The surroundings offers a wealth of asphalted roads perfect for cycling for all levels. There are more than 30 different walking routes passing through Cala Ratjada. One of the most emblematic walks here is to the beautiful lighthouse situated at the highest point in the area overlooking the entire bay, it is simply indescribably beautiful. If you want more nature, head to the nearby nature park of Serra de Llevant (Artà) and climb the mountains through gravel paths.

Visit the Castell de Capdepera fortress

One of the most well-preserved and fascinating fortresses is situated in the village of Capdepera, just 2 km inland from Cala Ratjada. This imposing fortress was built back in the early 14th century almost immediately after the Catalans had conquered the entire archipelago from the Moors. At your visit to the castle, you will learn about military architecture, understand the strategic mindset behind the construction and learn about the function and meaning for the population. Moreover, on clear days you can easily spot the neighboring island of Menorca on the other side of the strait from the watchtowers in the castle.

Cala Ratjada is located on the northeastern tip of Mallorca, 81 km (~50 miles) from Palma International Airport.

The transfer with taxi will take about an hour and cost around 100 euros.

Medieval Market

Every year during the third week of May, you can travel back to medieval times in Capdepera. The market will be held inside the walls of the castle, where you can meet blacksmiths, shoemakers, carpenters, jugglers, musicians, magicians etc. There will be several hundreds of stands selling all kinds of stuff, a good time to have a good deal on some of the famous llata work (palm-leaf crafts) like baskets, hats, bags etc.

This week is unique in Mallorca, a great opportunity to experience some local culture and learn about the Middle Ages on the island in a fun and interesting way.

El Carme

Our Lady of Mount Carmel is the patron saint of seamen, and on the 16th of July she is celebrated in Cala Ratjada. This festival is well-known because of the traditional mass on the pier and the procession of the virgin at sea, escorted to the church by the locals. In addition to this, several activities are organized such as a mini-marathon, traditional Mallorcan dances and a habanera (Cuban dance) concert.

Mostra de la Llampuga (mahi-mahi fair)

One of the most beloved fish species by the Mallorcans is the mahi-mahi fish (dolphinfish), which is one of the typical species of the Mediterranean. The fair is held in Cala Ratjada, anmd features a series of gastronomical events such as cooking competitions, tapas servings and much more. There will also be live music to set the festive atmosphere.
