Santuari de Sant Salvador is an iconic monastery situated on a mountaintop, offering outstanding panoramic views over the rural landscapes of Mallorca and Felanitx.
The monastery, is a popular stop for cyclists and hikers who fights their way up the steep twisting mountain roads, but do not worry, you can easily drive your car up here.
Santueri de Sant Salvador was built back in 1348, immediately after the Catalan conquest of Mallorca in 1231. In the mid-18th century, the monastery was completely restored. The altarpiece was built in honour of Imaginis Passio and dates from the fifteenth century. A sculpture of the Virgin Mary from the same era, the guardian of “The Chapel of Devotion” and you have chosen to this is where worship services at the monastery to be held.
Next to the monastery, seen the colossal monument in honour of Christ, 7 meters high and standing on a platform of 37 meters. The sculpture is from 1934 and has a modern touch, in contrast to the monastery in the background, creates a curious contrast to the delight of all visitors.
