A cultural focal point of Porreres village
The former Catholic center – Centre d’Agro Catolica – opened November 17, 1935, on the initiative of the parish priest, Lluís Crespi i Niell.
Centre d’Agro Catolica were intended to promote the church’s services and congregation of Porreres. Among other things, the building was used as a theater, to drive tombola and games, and to hold conferences and meetings. All profits from the activities went to church.
Centre d’Agro Catolica, is an excellent example of regional architecture from Mallorca’s rural areas. Today, the building is occupied by the wonderful local Restaurante Es Centro.
