A tribute to the shoe-making industry of Llucmajor
Placeta del Sabater is a triangular square located in the heart of Llucmajor town, which was formerly known as “jardinet”, a small garden.
The monument in the center of Placeta del Sabater, made of Santanyí sandstone, is dedicated to the shoemakers of Llucmajor, a profession of the majority of the inhabitants of the town until the 1970s.
The sculptor behind the monument was Tomás Vila, and was inaugurated on August 10th 1963. The monument represent different stages and aspects of the shoe-making industry.
