About Torre dels Enagistes
Torre dels Enagistes is a former manor house and later fortress, that was part of Manacor’s town limits, located on the southern outskirts of Manacor town.
Torre dels Enagistes was built by Pelai Onis immediately after the Catalan reconquista of Mallorca (about 1229-1232). The architectural style is typical of mansions in Catalonia and Mallorca from the early Middle Ages.
It is obvious that Torre dels Enagistes has been functioning as the defense establishment, the individual porches and castellation with arrow slits in the roof testifies to this.
Currently, the Torre dels Enagistes houses Manacors historical museum, Museo d’Historia de Manacor, which exhibits impressive collections of archaeological sites and historical evidence of life around Manacor through the Middle Ages to the 20th century.
