Caixaforum
The former Gran Hotel in Palma, is the biggest exhibition hall in all of Mallorca and the most renown modernist building
CaixaForum has its name, because it is owned and managed by the Catalan investment bank, La Caixa.
CaixaForum is situated in the building, that was once the Grand Hotel in Palma. This was the very first Catalan-modernism building in Mallorca, and used to be the Grand Hotel in Palma.
The Grand Hotel, was built between 1900 and 1903, by famous architect, Lluís Domènech i Montaner. The Grand Hotel was for many years the trademark of Palma along with the cathedral. The Grand Hotel suffered great from the Spanish Civil War, and never managed to recover when the war ended.
Besides from the architectural masterpiece this is, the CaixaForum exhibits many awarded works by various artists.
