The church of Manacor has the highest and most beautiful tower
This impressive construction is the parish church of Manacor. The church is characterized by its enormous tower and bellfry, rising high over the town.
The church has been given the name of Nostra Senyora dels Dolors, meaning Our Lady of Sorrows.
The construction of the first church here, was right after the Catalan conquest of Mallorca. There is documentation of an Arab mosque, on this very place.
Our Lady of Sorrows, was ordered built by rector, Rubí, and marine engineer, José Barceló Runggaldier designed it. Gaspar Bennàssar, was the man in charge of the construction works.
The tower is named after rector Rubí.
