Torre d’en Bassa was a part of a network of more than 86 watchtowers that guarded the coasts of the island between the 16th and 18th century.
The tower here was constructed in 1617, and has a square form unlike most other watchtowers that were round.
Torre d’en Bassa overlooks the scenic cove of Portopetro on the southeast coast of Mallorca.
