The streets of Mallorcan village Ses Salines, are once again ready to kick of the annual May fair. Every corner of the village, is now festively decorated in colors from rooftop to rooftop.

The air is filled with a buzzing atmosphere of excitement from both young and adults, who are all getting ready for an entire month of festive events during the May fair.

The fair kicks of on April 28 and ends on May 28, that’s right, an entire month. Throughout the May fair in Ses Salines, you can enjoy a scenic atmosphere of stalls, music and dance performances, cooking shows, competitions, workshops and markets. Moreover, remember that Ses Salines is the salt city of Mallorca, so come and taste the best salt in the world and get inspiration for its usage.

Several restaurants and bars of Ses Salines, are offering special menus and prices during the May fair.

The May fair exhibits the true soul of Ses Salines

In the official publication of the May fair program, the mayor of Ses Salines, Bernat Roig Galmés, took the time to express his deepest thoughts and appreciation to his fellow ‘saliners’.

He reminded the villagers of Ses Salines, that succeeding with a major event such as the May fair, is a team effort. Also, he encouraged the inhabitants to keep in mind at all times, that this is a time to shine and show of what a great town Ses Salines truly is. He spoke of the potential chaotic situations that might occur from time to time in public spaces, because of the many visitors that normally comes to enjoy this spectacular event.

Most of all, the major encouraged a festive attitude and to keep in mind that we are here to have a ball and party. “Keep partying until your body can’t take it anymore”, he said in the press release.

Responsible planner of cultural events in Ses Salines, Fina Tur Marí, spoke of the May fair as being the entrance to summer. Also, she took the time to show of her deepest appreciation to all participants of the May fair, inhabitants, associations and local companies, who actively makes this fantastic event possible. The May fair, is not a property of the town hall, it is the property of the people of Ses Salines.

May fair kick off

The weekend up till 1st of May, the Fira Espectacle kicks off in the village center.

The inauguration of the festivities are held on Friday April 28 at the old school (Escola Vella),where you can enjoy various art exhibitions.

Later on Friday, we will be awarding the best painted artwork that truly represent the town of Ses Salines. The award will be held at the church of Ses Salines.

The entire weekend is dedicated to cooking shows from the best of Ses Salines, especially aimed for the children in the town. On Saturday night, DJ’s will keep the night young until early morning for all young people to party in the streets.

On Monday May 1st, the May fair will have it’s official opening at 8:30, and the day will last until 22:00.

On the first day, especially hunters will be in for a treat, as local hunting associations will be talking and exhibiting hunting dogs, guns and techniques.

Besides from the hunting show, the May fair of 2017 in Ses Salines, will be far more aimed to a younger crowd than it has been in previous years.
