Spanish government extends the limitation of flights from the UK, Brasil and South Africa

The Council of Ministers has approved the extension of the current restrictions of direct flights and passenger ships between the United Kingdom and Spanish airport and harbors. Flight or ships carrying Spanish or Andorran citizens, as well as passengers with citizenship in both countries, will be excepted by these restrictions.
The limitation takes effect on February 16 and will be in effect until March 2. The decision is the Spanish government’s respond to the British mutation of the Covid-19 virus.
Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, also announced that flights from Brazil and South Africa will too be limited by these restrictions due to the new variants of the virus with origin in these countries.
In addition to the requirement of a negative PCR test in the 72 hours prior to the trip, passengers on these flights will be tested for antigens at the airport in order to reinforce controls.
