About the church of Saint John of Malta

The origin of this temple, goes back to the 13th century. It is situated in the harbour area of Palma not far from the impressive Gothic building of La Llotja.

The building was completely changed during the 18th century, giving it its current Baroque look. You can clearly see balanced lines and order, that characterizes the Baroque stylistic.

If you look at the main entrance portal at the facade, you will see characteristics of Italian classicism in the simple yet beautiful decorations.

In the main facade, you can also see the figure of Saint John in the tympanum, and above the rose window the well-known Maltese cross.

Today, the church is in possession of the Theatine order.
