The convent of Teresa is home to the Carmelitas nuns, a highly isolated order

The convent, was started in 1624 and inaugurated already in 1637.

It is devoted to the Our Lady of Mount Carmel, whom is a special character to the Mallorcan people as she is protector of the sailors and fishermen.

Like many other convents in Spain, this too was affected by the confiscation during the first Carlist war in 1836. However, the most sacred treasure was saved, a sculpture of Carmen, made from alabaster, which still remains preserved in the church of blood – La Sang.

The convent offers a stunning Baroque portal, beautiful cloister and the Santa Teresa altarpiece.

Do please respect the nuns living in isolation here.
