About

The church in Porto Cristo is dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, protector of seamen and fishermen.

The church is one of the newer of its kind in Mallorca. It was built in the years between 1890 and 1949, in the architectural style of historicism. It is built up as a typical basilica from the Catholic world, with a transept flanked by lateral chapels.

The massive stone carved stairs leading up to the main entrance was added in 1957.
