The statue of “s’Espigolera” made in bronze in 1965 by the sculptor Horacio de Eguía, represents a pagesa (farm girl) with braids and dressed in a traditional Mallorcan outfit, carrying grain in her arms.
The sculpture is a tribute to Maria Antonia Salvá, poetess of Llucmajor. Espigolera is the name of one of her poems, inspired by scenes from real life where little girls would follow the threshers picking up any ear of grain that was left behind.
