A mixture of pilgrimage inn and convent
Hidden in the narrow street of Carrer de la Caridad of Sencelles, you will find a building with a very special story.
When Sister Francinaina Cirer’s father died back in 1821, she transformed the family property into a place of religious worship, where pilgrims and locals could find peace.
30 years later, she founded the convent of Convent de les Germanes de la Caritat in the same building, after which she donated it to the church and an extra floor was built to house pilgrims.
Many years later, the small convent expanded again, by purchasing the neighboring building due to the great popularity.
Next to the main entrance, hangs a plaque, and inside the building you will find a small museum that tells this patriotic story of Francinaina Cirer, as well as displaying her life and personal belongings in the various rooms. It also shows her tomb in the chapel on the ground floor.
