About

Can Prunera exhibits some of best contemporary art in Mallorca

The Ca’n Prunera and Ca’n Massana estates are emblematic architectural examples of the Sóller area from the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, when Sóller welcomed home the many fortune seekers that had emigrated to France and America to pursue new opportunities.

Can Prunera is built between 1909-1911, and pays special attention to details on both the exterior and interior. Motifs of flowers, plants and animals, are part of the nouveau artwork.

Ca’n Prunera is today a museum and exhibition hall.

In the same street, at number 71, stands Can Massana, the balcony of which displays the coat of arms of the city of San Juan of Puerto Rico, which along with Cuba, Santo Domingo, Mexico, Argentina and Venezuela, were the main destinations chosen by the emigrants from Sóller, in search of their fortunes.
