Standing on the Placa de Ramon Llull, you will see a narrow street called ‘Carrer de Jovellanos’, named after famous Spanish minister of justice, Gasper Melchior de Jovellanos, who was imprisoned in the tower of the Charterhouse.

The houses to the left and right, were built in the 15th century, in a time where the kings spent more time up here to hunt. Later on, these houses became property of the Charterhouse (Real Cartuja), functioning as stables, smithy etc.

Under La Miranda, you will see the old entrance to the monastery. Here. next to the big tower, there was a guest house for visitors of monks during their time in Valldemossa.

From La Miranda, you can observe the old road that led to Valldemossa from Palma.
