US airlines prepare routes to Palma from Miami and Los Angeles

North American airlines are currently studying the opportunity to establish routes to Palma from Miami and LA, as a result of the successful commercial route from Newark managed by United Airlines.

Reliable sources from the airline industry confirms that there is a big interest in Mallorca from the American market. Mallorca is still considered a “new” destination, and is expected to catch momentum once the routes from Miami and LA will be established.

Councilor of Tourism of Mallorca, Andreu Sierra, points out: “The success of the flight with Palma has had a knock-on effect on other airlines, which we hope will bear fruit due to the positive impact it would have on the tourism sector in Mallorca”. He adds that United Airlines connections with Toronto (Canada) and the rest of the airports on the West and East Coast “may implement flights to Palma if the market response continues as before, since it is surprising us all.” Serra affirms that “we opened a new market and we have fully succeeded in how the entire project has been managed, because all parties are satisfied.”

Miguel Sanz, General Manager of the Spanish Institute of Tourism, has given his full support to the new direct routes from Miami and LA to Palma. He confirms maximum collaboration from the Spanish Tourism Office (OET) in New York when it comes to promoting the new routes.

In regard to the inaugural flight next Friday, on June 3rd, 2022, the Consell de Mallorca has planned a special reception at the Sant Joan International Airport in Palma. Moreover, the 204 passengers can look forward to receiving a bag from Teixit Vicens and two cans of high-quality salt from es Trenc.

The insular director of Turisme, Lucía Escribano, explains that “everything is perfectly organized and we seek the highest level of satisfaction for the North American tourists who are going to come on this first flight.”.

This year, in 2022, the routes will operate from June to September. But it is already being studied if there period for 2023 can be expanded from May to October.
