Visit the beautiful medieval chapel of Sant Miquel outside Campanet

According to tradition, the chapel of St. Michael occupies the site that was once a mosque that again had replaced a sanctuary all the way back from late-Roman time on the island.

The temple was built in a small valley, surrounded by big farms that was built by the Moors.

This temple you look at now, was built by the Christian settlers after the Catalan conquest of Mallorca by James I (1229-1232). It was one of the most primitive parishes of the island, and appears documented in 1248 in the Bull of Pope Innocent IV.

Towards the end of the fifteenth century, Sant Miquel underwent important changes, which gave it its current appearance.
