Well-preserved small chapel from early Middle Ages
This small chapel, is among the oldest still functioning religious properties in all of Mallorca! The church of Santa Anna dates back to the middle of the 13th century, after the Catalan conquest of Mallorca.
The chapel chapel was built of stones and remains from the ruins of Roman capital, Pollentia. However, the need for renovation work wasn’t present until 1790, and the latest renovation was done in 1980.
The original altarpiece from the 13th century, is preserved and displayed in the ethnological museum, situated next to the new parish church of Sant Jaume.
Visits to the chapel can be done from 9:30-10 during service.
You can find the small church just across the street from the ruin of Pollentia, in the outskirts of Alcúdia old town.
