Sa Rectoria de Sineu is the name of the old rectory building in this historic town. The rectory is located just next to the enormous Santa Maria church.
The rectory has its own entrance, on the backside of the baroque lateral entrance of the church.
During the late 1800-s, the rector, Pere de Alcántara Peña, added a third floor to the building, and modified the entrance as well as the facade.
Entering the rectory building, you will be led though a small hall and to a beautiful patio. On the left side, you see a stone plate with the goat of arms of Sineu, with the text “Sineu vila la primera, té la prima per bandera”, meaning something like: Sineu, first village with own flag.
Another beautiful piece of art to find in the rectory, is the painting of Santa Maria, made by famous painter, Gabriel Möger back in 1509 for the big parish church next door.
The rectory building, is exhibiting many of the treasures found in Sineu, like old ceramics from medieval times, many of them with Arab paintings on them.
