It’s real name, is ‘Torre dels Serrals de Falcons’, because of the hill it stands on overlooking the and guarding the coastal line of Porto Cristo.
This watchtower was built in 1577, as a respond to the many violent pirate attacks that Mallorca suffered from during the 15 and 1600’s.
In 1769, the tower belonged to the finca ‘Es Rafal Podent’, which is now a rustic finca hotel.
During the Spanish civil war, the tower was heavily damaged. However, when the war was over, an unanimous town council of Manacor decided to restore the tower as a symbol of the area.
