The museum is situated in a unique villa on the rocky peninsula separating Port d’Andratx from Cala Marmassen and Cala Llamp.
One of Mallorca’a biggest and most renown exhibition spaces in the subject of contemporary art, is the CCA Andratx (Centre of Contemporary Art). The art museum is situated in an impressive old finca in beautiful natural settings near the old town of Andratx. As well as the many changing exhibitions, CCA also offer a wide selection of activities and event to indulge in.
Golfers love coming to Andratx, and there is an obvious reason for that; the Golf d’Andratx course. Golf d’Andratx is by far one of the most beautiful golf courses on the island situated in stunning settings with the Tramuntana rising in the background. The 18-hole course is full of fun and difficult challenges that will make it interesting to play no matter what your handicap is.
Across the strait from the charming village of Sant Elm – a short drive from Port d’Andratx – is the Illa de sa Dragonera island. The island takes it name from its shape like a dragon. Dragonera is a protected nature park that has become iconic to Mallorca because of the incredible wildlife here, in particular the black lizards living here. Once on the island, you can walk to the most breathtaking vantage points and get a whole new view on the Balearics.
There are a few beaches to choose from in Port d’Andratx, some of them all natural and virgin with crystal clear water. If you are looking for more space or simply more beach, head over to the area of Camp de Mar, also a part of Andratx, where you will find three wonderful beaches.
In the hills behind Andratx you will find the ruins of the old Trapist monastery that was built in the 18th century. Today it serves as a tourist attraction and popular walking destination from where you can take in the most magical views over the valley and the Dragonera island across the strait.
Port d’Andratx is known as one of the most exclusive and lavish areas of Mallorca, a place that possess both natural beauty and some of the most expensive properties in Spain. Celebrities such as Brat Pitt, Claudia Schiffer and Kim Schumacher have all purchased property in Port d’Andratx along with many other prominent figures. Enjoy a nice lunch at one of the many bars and restaurants along the marina and roam the small shopping streets for designer clothes and jewelry. If you’re more into culture or walking, go see the church of Carmen or the medieval watchtower of Sant Carles.
Every Wednesday morning, the weekly market is held in the old town of Andratx. There are hundreds of stalls selling all kinds of local goods and delicacies and you get a chance to sample some typical Mallorcan produce and absorb this traditional part of the culture. This is also a great opportunity to discover the old town of Andratx and the many imposing estates.
The church of Carmen was built with donations and hands from the growing congregation of fishermen when Port d’Andratx started to to take form as a village. The church is a beautiful visit and, there are many processions starting here during the tradition celebrations in town.
The fortified estate of Son Mas is one of the most emblematic building of Andratx. The property was built by a nobleman and later, the walls were enhanced and the massive tower added. Today, Son Mas is home to the town hall of Andratx and a public exhibition space where you can always find contemporary artworks on display.
Just like many other churches in Mallorca, the Santa maria church in Andratx is a beautiful sight, with its massive dimensions and fortified exterior that witness of rough times in the coastal area.
The old watchtower of Sant Carles is overlooking the entire bay where Port d’Andratx is located in. It was built back in the 1500’s as a guard against pirates and other hostile intruders.
Port d’Andratx is located in the southwestern part of Mallorca, approx. 42 km (~26 miles) from Palma airport.

The weekly market in Andratx happens on Wednesdays in the center of the old town.
The market in Andratx is a traditional market with merchants selling things such as fresh local produce, crafts, clothes, leather goods, oils, salts and herbs. Stroll between the many stalls, sample the local specialties and enjoy a refreshment while observing other people mingle and bargaining.
Mare de Deú del Carme
The annual procession of Carmen is a major event in Port d’Andratx, and of high cultural importance. Beside from the procession, some of the other highlights of this celebration include a horse show, folk dances, open-air dinners and concerts.
