Discover the Best Sóller has to Offer
Gran Hotel Sóller
Sa Capelleta, or Capella de Santa Maria de l’Olivar des Fenàs, is a small Modernist style chapel situated in a divine spot between Sóller and Fornalutx.
The chapel was inaugurated back in 1917, and pays homage to the cave of Our Lady of Lourdes.
The interior is illuminated with natural light breaking through the columned walls. Inside you see a stalactite cave with the figures of Mary and Santa Bernadeta (Bernadette Soubirous of Lourdes).
Sa Capelleta has become a popular tourist attraction, namely amongst hikers and cyclists who will find it easy to reach this little gem. The Modernist inspired architecture of the chapel is almost reminmiscent of the works of Antoní Gaudí, with the irregular and overlapped stones that results in an artistic extrerior.
Sa Capelleta is maintained by the Augustinian order whose monastery, the Santuari de Santa Maria de l’Olivar des Fenàs, is found just close by. This monastery was built in 1944 thanks to generous donations from the social elite of Sóller.
It is not possible to actually enter Sa Capelleta, but you can easily see inside from the main portal.
