Americans fill up Mallorca's boutique hotels and Michelin restaurants

United Airlines is resuming direct flights between New York-Newark and Mallorca ahead of schedule. The first flight will take off this Friday, and the airline has planned three weekly flights until the end of September, offering a total of around 14,000 seats, which is 2,000 more than last year.

The restart of these flights has already had a positive impact on boutique hotels in Palma and Michelin-starred restaurants in Mallorca. The Casc Antic boutique hotels have seen reservations surpass expectations, with many of them already fully booked thanks to North American tourists. In fact, North American visitors have become the main market for some establishments, highlighting the success of United Airlines’ commitment to Palma and Mallorca.

The restaurants, especially those with Michelin stars, have also seen an increase in reservations, demonstrating the purchasing power of North American tourists visiting the island. The Minister of Tourism, Andreu Serra, believes that the resumption of United Airlines flights confirms the growth of this market. After the successful flights in 2022, it can be said that the market is becoming more established and promising for Mallorca.

Serra highlights the significance of United Airlines’ Newark hub as a traffic distribution center, enabling the company to attract Canadian tourists from Toronto, New York, and neighboring states. The Consell (Balearic government), represented by the Fundació Mallorca Turisme, and the Town Hall, represented by the Fundació 365, are now reaping the rewards of their promotional efforts from the previous year.

In this regard, Serra emphasizes the collaborative promotional work carried out with United Airlines and the Spanish Tourist Offices (OET) in the United States, specifically Turespaña. The results of these efforts have once again surpassed all expectations, solidifying the positive outcomes achieved.
